Overview

RC1016 is an mRNA-based vaccine candidate developed by RNAcure for the prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. The vaccine utilizes messenger RNA technology to encode a viral antigen, typically the RSV fusion (F) protein in its stabilized prefusion conformation, which is critical for viral entry into host cells. Upon administration, the mRNA is translated by host cells to produce the antigen, thereby stimulating a robust immune response that includes the production of neutralizing antibodies and the activation of T-cell responses. RC1016 is currently in the preclinical stage of development and is designed to provide a prophylactic solution against RSV-associated lower respiratory tract disease, particularly in high-risk populations such as infants and the elderly.
