Overview

RC1416 is a recombinant bispecific nanobody (single domain antibody) injection developed by Nanjing RegeneCore Biotech. It targets both interleukin 4 receptor subunit alpha (IL-4Rα) and interleukin 5 (IL-5), functioning as an inhibitor of these pathways. The drug is designed to block the signaling of IL-4, IL-5, and potentially IL-13 pathways—key mediators in Th2-type immune responses—thereby reducing inflammation associated with diseases like moderate to severe asthma. Its primary clinical indication is as an add-on maintenance therapy for patients with moderate to severe asthma who are already on standard treatments. The drug has reached Phase 1 clinical trials in China and the United States[1][2][3][7].
