Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RC220 is a proprietary formulation of bisantrene developed by Race Oncology. It has been granted Orphan Drug Designation (ODD) by the US FDA for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The drug is currently in clinical development for both AML and advanced solid tumors. RC220 represents an improved formulation of bisantrene that has eliminated phlebitis, a previous barrier to clinical use. Preclinical evidence suggests RC220 may have dual functionality - treating cancer while also providing cardioprotective effects, particularly when used alongside cardiotoxic chemotherapies like doxorubicin.
