RC402-PO

RC402-PO is an orally administered oncolytic reovirus being developed by ViroCure for the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC) and other solid tumors. The active agent is RC402, which is the wild-type, replication-competent Dearing strain of reovirus serotype 3. Unlike traditional oncolytic viruses that require direct intratumoral injection, RC402-PO is designed for oral delivery to leverage the gut-associated lymphoid tissue and reshape the gut microbiome. This process is intended to induce systemic antitumor immunity and activate the immune system to target multifocal tumor lesions. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that RC402-PO can suppress tumor growth and work synergistically with immune checkpoint inhibitors, such as anti-PD-1 antibodies.
