Overview

RCH-01 is an autologous cell therapy for androgenetic alopecia that uses dermal sheath cup (DSC) cells isolated from hair follicles at the back of the patient’s scalp, expanded ex vivo, and injected into balding scalp areas to regenerate hair-producing follicles and reverse miniaturization.[6][1][3][9] These DSC cells, which are resistant to androgen-driven damage, are believed to repopulate and support dermal papilla function, thereby increasing hair density and shaft diameter and stabilizing further hair loss.[1][6][9] The product was originally developed by RepliCel Life Sciences and is co-developed and clinically tested in Asia under license by Shiseido, with phase 1 and randomized, placebo-controlled trials in Japan demonstrating a favorable safety profile and statistically significant, clinically meaningful improvements in hair density at certain doses.[2][4][9][11]
