Overview

RCHP-S is a novel pectin polysaccharide isolated and purified from Rubus chingii Hu, a plant traditionally used as a healthy food in China. Structurally, it is composed of mannose, rhamnose, glucuronic acid, galacturonic acid, glucose, galactose, and arabinose, primarily featuring HG-type pectin domains with a minor presence of RG-I. This polysaccharide has demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects by significantly inhibiting the mRNA expression and secretion of key inflammatory mediators, including inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) in macrophage cells. In preclinical studies, RCHP-S effectively reduced symptoms of dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis in mice, suggesting its potential as a food additive for treating intestinal inflammation.
