Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RCT002 is a first-in-class small molecule drug developed by Roca Therapeutics for the topical treatment of severe ocular diseases, including radiation-induced maculopathy, macular dystrophy, and glaucoma. It is designed to be administered non-invasively as an eye drop. The mechanism of action involves blocking resistant angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels that are unresponsive to VEGF inhibition), oxidative stress, inflammation, and fibrosis in the retina. This VEGF-independent approach aims to address disease pathways not targeted by current anti-VEGF therapies[1][4]. RCT002 is currently in preclinical development.
