Drug intelligence / Profile preview
rDEN2Δ30-7169 is a live attenuated dengue virus type 2 (DENV-2) vaccine candidate and challenge strain. It was developed by introducing a 30-nucleotide deletion (Δ30) in the 3' untranslated region of DEN-2 Tonga/74 virus, along with a specific mutation (7169) for further attenuation. The strain is derived from the American genotype of DEN-2 viruses, which has been associated with decreased virulence. It has been used in clinical trials both as a vaccine candidate and as a challenge strain to test the efficacy of other dengue vaccines.
