Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RDX-002 + olanzapine is a combination therapy being developed for the treatment of antipsychotic-induced weight gain (AIWG). RDX-002 is a first-in-class, potent, selective, and gut-specific small molecule inhibitor of intestinal microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (iMTP) that is not systemically bioavailable. When combined with olanzapine (a widely used antipsychotic), RDX-002 has been shown to reduce postprandial triglycerides and mitigate weight gain, which is a common and serious side effect of olanzapine treatment. This combination aims to improve treatment compliance in patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder by addressing one of the major side effects that leads to treatment discontinuation.
