RDX-011

RDX-011 is a small molecule inhibitor of the sodium/hydrogen exchanger 3 (NHE3), originally developed by Ardelyx, Inc. for the treatment of digestive system disorders. It functions by locally inhibiting NHE3 in the gastrointestinal tract, which reduces the absorption of dietary sodium and increases intestinal fluid secretion. This mechanism of action is shared with tenapanor, another Ardelyx-developed NHE3 inhibitor approved for conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) and hyperphosphatemia. RDX-011 was designed to modulate electrolyte and fluid transport to address gastrointestinal and potentially systemic fluid-related pathologies.
