Overview

RDX10531 is a next-generation, small molecule inhibitor of the sodium/hydrogen exchanger 3 (NHE3), currently under development by Ardelyx. NHE3 is an antiporter protein expressed on the apical surface of the epithelial cells in the small and large intestines, where it is responsible for the absorption of the majority of ingested sodium. By inhibiting this exchanger, RDX10531 aims to reduce systemic sodium absorption, which may provide therapeutic benefits across multiple undisclosed therapeutic areas. As of early 2026, the program is in pre-clinical development, with an Investigational New Drug (IND) submission to the FDA anticipated in the second half of 2026, followed by the initiation of Phase 1 clinical trials.
