RDX98940 is an orally administered, minimally systemic small‑molecule agonist of the G‑protein‑coupled bile acid receptor 1 (TGR5/GPBAR1), discovered and developed by Ardelyx for gastrointestinal and metabolic indications. It is designed to act locally in the intestinal tract to stimulate secretion of the incretin hormones glucagon‑like peptide‑1 (GLP‑1) and glucagon‑like peptide‑2 (GLP‑2), thereby modulating glucose homeostasis, gut motility, barrier function, and mucosal growth for potential treatment of type 2 diabetes, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), inflammatory bowel disease, diarrhea‑related disorders, and short bowel syndrome.[1][3][5][9]
