Overview

RE104 is a proprietary, clinical-stage psychedelic drug candidate developed as a fast-acting, short-duration treatment for depressive disorders. It is a prodrug that is rapidly converted in vivo to its active metabolite, 4-hydroxy-diisopropyltryptamine (4-OH-DiPT), which acts as an agonist at serotonin receptors—most notably the serotonin 2A receptor (5HT2A). The pharmacological effects of RE104 are similar in intensity and quality to those of psilocybin but last only about half as long (3–4 hours), potentially reducing the clinical resource burden associated with psychedelic therapy. RE104 is administered via subcutaneous injection and has demonstrated favorable safety and tolerability profiles in Phase 1 studies. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 trials for postpartum depression (PPD) and adjustment disorder in cancer patients[1][2][4][5][6][7][8].
