Reactive Skin Decontamination Lotion

Reactive Skin Decontamination Lotion (RSDL) is a topical decontaminant specifically formulated to neutralize and remove chemical warfare agents (CWAs) such as nerve agents (e.g., VX, Sarin/GB, Soman/GD), blister agents (e.g., sulfur mustard/HD, Lewisite), T-2 mycotoxin, and certain toxic industrial chemicals from the skin. The active ingredients are Dekon 139 (potassium 2,3-butanedione monoximate/KBDO) and 2,3-butanedione monoxime (DAM), dissolved in a glycol-based solvent system. The mechanism of action involves rapid nucleophilic substitution reactions that neutralize organophosphorus compounds and other toxins by breaking their chemical bonds or denaturing them. RSDL is applied topically using a foam applicator; it acts within minutes to detoxify contaminants on the skin surface.
