Overview
Reaferon-Lipint is an orally administered liposomal formulation of recombinant human interferon alpha-2b developed by Vector-Medica. By encapsulating the interferon in liposomes, the drug is protected from degradation by gastric juices, allowing it to reach the liver and enter the systemic circulation with a prolonged release profile. It acts by binding to the type I interferon receptor (IFNAR), triggering a signaling cascade that induces the expression of antiviral proteins and modulates the activity of the innate and adaptive immune systems. It is primarily used in Russia for the treatment and prevention of various viral infections, including hepatitis B, influenza, and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI).
