REAURO003 is an investigational gold-based small molecule therapeutic being developed by Reach Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of Ulcerative Colitis (UC) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). As part of the REAURO platform, it is designed to improve upon the clinical utility of traditional gold-based therapies by optimizing delivery and reducing systemic toxicity. The drug's mechanism of action is centered on the inhibition of thioredoxin reductase (TrxR), a key enzyme in the regulation of cellular redox homeostasis. By inhibiting TrxR, REAURO003 suppresses the activation of inflammatory signaling pathways and the subsequent release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, thereby reducing mucosal inflammation in the gut.
