Overview

**rebamipide + naproxen** is a fixed-dose combination of two drugs: *rebamipide*, a gastroprotective agent, and *naproxen*, a non-selective non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Rebamipide acts primarily by promoting prostaglandin synthesis and mucus secretion in the gastric mucosa, thus protecting the digestive tract from damage and inhibiting inflammation and reactive oxygen species production. Naproxen is widely used as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent for conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatic diseases, and pain, but is associated with a risk of gastrointestinal (GI) injury, including ulcers and bleeding. The combination is investigated to mitigate naproxen-induced GI adverse effects, particularly upper and lower GI tract injuries. Some studies suggest that continuous co-prescription of rebamipide with NSAIDs (including naproxen) reduces the risk of GI bleeding and mucosal damage[1][2][4], although not all trials agree on its efficacy in every population[1]. Rebamipide was developed in Japan and is commonly prescribed in Asian countries for this purpose.
