Overview

rebamipide + nizatidine is a fixed-dose combination of two small-molecule drugs used for the treatment of erosive gastritis. Rebamipide acts as a mucoprotective agent by stimulating prostaglandin and mucous glycoprotein synthesis, reducing reactive oxygen species and inflammatory cytokine production, and inhibiting leukocyte activity. Nizatidine is a histamine-2 receptor antagonist that suppresses gastric acid secretion. The combination therapy has been shown in randomized phase 4 clinical trial data to significantly improve mucosal erosion healing in patients with erosive gastritis compared to nizatidine monotherapy, with a similar adverse event profile between groups. This therapy demonstrates synergy through dual mechanisms: defending the gastric mucosa while suppressing acid secretion. Both agents are well-established for individual use in gastritis and peptic ulcer, but this combination especially benefits patients experiencing gastritis-related symptoms by enhancing mucosal healing[1][2][3].
