RECALL-VAX is an investigational dual-target vaccine candidate designed for the treatment and prevention of Alzheimer's disease. Developed by the Institute for Molecular Medicine (IMM) in collaboration with the University of California, Irvine, the vaccine utilizes the proprietary **MultiTEP** platform. This platform is engineered to overcome the challenges of immunosenescence in the elderly by incorporating a string of universal T-cell epitopes that provide potent help to B-cells. RECALL-VAX specifically targets two hallmark pathologies of Alzheimer's: **amyloid-beta (Aβ)** plaques and neurofibrillary tangles composed of **tau** protein. By inducing high titers of antibodies against both Aβ and tau, the vaccine aims to promote the clearance of these toxic aggregates from the brain, thereby slowing or halting neurodegeneration and cognitive decline. The vaccine is typically formulated as a DNA plasmid delivered via intramuscular injection, often accompanied by electroporation to enhance cellular uptake.
