Overview

Recazolimab is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Hengrui Medicine. It targets proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) and is designed to treat primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. The drug works by binding to circulating PCSK9, which in turn increases the expression of low-density lipoprotein receptors (LDLR) on the surface of liver cells. This mechanism promotes the clearance of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) from the bloodstream, thereby lowering serum LDL-C levels. Recazolimab is an IgG1 subtype and incorporates "YTE" amino acid mutation technology to extend its half-life, allowing for an extended dosing interval of up to 8 weeks. It has been approved in China for use in adult patients who cannot achieve target LDL-C levels with statins alone or in combination with other lipid-lowering therapies, and can also be used as monotherapy for certain patients.
