RECCE 111 (R111) is an experimental synthetic polymer anti-infective being developed by Recce Pharmaceuticals. It belongs to a new class of synthetic antibiotics designed to address the global threat of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, or superbugs. Building upon the technology of the company's lead candidate RECCE 327, RECCE 111 is engineered to provide a multi-layered mechanism of action that disrupts bacterial cell walls and metabolic processes, potentially preventing the development of resistance. Preclinical studies in mice have shown positive efficacy against Streptococcus pneumoniae in the treatment of bacterial sinusitis. The drug is currently in the early stages of development within Recce's anti-infective pipeline.
