Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Recofast Entericum is a veterinary antimicrobial and antidiarrheal combination product developed by UBM (United BioMed). It is formulated as a powder for oral administration, primarily indicated for the treatment of enteritis and diarrhea in ruminants (such as calves and lambs) and poultry. The product contains a synergistic combination of the sulfonamide **sulfadiazine** and the dihydrofolate reductase inhibitor **trimethoprim**, which together inhibit bacterial folic acid synthesis. Additionally, it incorporates intestinal protectants like **kaolin** and **pectin**, which act as adsorbents to bind bacterial toxins and coat the intestinal mucosa, providing symptomatic relief and aiding in the recovery from gastrointestinal infections.
