Overview

Recoflavone is a synthetic small molecule derivative of eupatillen, classified as a flavone derivative. It exhibits antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and has been investigated primarily for the treatment of gastritis (including acute and chronic forms) and dry eye syndrome. Its mechanism of action includes inhibition of NF-kappa B, antioxidant activity, calcium channel agonism, and leukotriene inhibition. The drug was developed by Dong-A Pharmaceutical (now Dong-A ST), with clinical trials reaching phase III for gastritis and phase II for dry eye disease. Development for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis was discontinued[1][3][4][7].
