The recombinant 14-valent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is a prophylactic biologic designed to prevent infection by fourteen types of HPV. Like other HPV vaccines, it is based on virus-like particles (VLPs) composed of the L1 protein from each targeted HPV type, produced using recombinant DNA technology. These VLPs mimic the structure of native virus capsids but lack viral genetic material and cannot cause infection. The primary mechanism of action involves stimulating the immune system to produce neutralizing antibodies against the included HPV types, thereby preventing initial infection and subsequent development of diseases such as cervical cancer and genital warts[1][5][7]. The main indication for this class of vaccines is prevention of cancers and precancerous lesions associated with high-risk HPV types.
