Overview

The recombinant 2009 H1 haemagglutinin vaccine (known by the brand name Panblok-H1/Advax) is an investigational pandemic influenza vaccine developed by Vaxine Pty Ltd in collaboration with Protein Sciences Corporation. It consists of a recombinant haemagglutinin (rHA) protein cloned from the 2009 H1N1 pandemic influenza strain (H1N1/A/California/04/2009), produced using a baculovirus expression system in insect cells. The vaccine is formulated with Advax, a delta inulin-based polysaccharide adjuvant designed to enhance immunogenicity and induce neutralizing antibodies. Panblok-H1 was the first vaccine globally to enter human clinical trials in response to the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic, being designed and manufactured within one month of the WHO pandemic declaration. It has been evaluated in a Phase 1/2 clinical trial in healthy adults to assess safety, immunogenicity, dose levels, and the contribution of the Advax adjuvant.
