Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Recombinant adeno-associated virus with Slc26a9 (rAAV-Slc26a9) is an investigational gene therapy designed to overexpress solute carrier family 26 member 9 (Slc26a9), a multifunctional anion transporter and Cl- uniporter highly expressed in the gastric mucosa. Developed by researchers at the Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University, rAAV-Slc26a9 is being evaluated for the treatment of portal hypertensive gastropathy (PHG). In preclinical models, delivery of rAAV-Slc26a9 attenuates endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress-mediated, mitochondria-dependent apoptotic signaling in gastric epithelial cells, thereby protecting the gastric mucosal defense barrier and reversing mucosal damage.
