Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Recombinant anti-EGFR chimeric monoclonal antibody is a target-specific generic descriptor referring to several human-murine chimeric monoclonal antibodies directed against the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). In China, this term is commonly used in clinical trial registries to describe cetuximab biosimilars or biobetters under development by various pharmaceutical companies. Key examples of assets developed under this description include HLX05/HLX05-N (developed by Henlius/Fosun), A140 (developed by Kelun-Biotech), and CMAB009 (Enlituo, developed by Mabpharm/Zhangjiang Biotech and commercialized by Simcere). These antibodies bind to EGFR, inhibiting downstream signaling pathways and mediating antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) to treat EGFR-expressing malignancies such as metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC).
