Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Recombinant anti-RANKL monoclonal antibody is a biosimilar of denosumab (Prolia) developed by Jiangsu Pacific Meinuoke Biopharmaceutical. It is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand (RANKL). By binding to RANKL, the antibody prevents it from activating its receptor, RANK, on the surface of osteoclasts and their precursors. This inhibition of the RANKL/RANK pathway prevents osteoclast formation, function, and survival, thereby reducing bone resorption and increasing bone density. The drug is currently in Phase 1 clinical development in China for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis in patients at high risk of fracture.
