Recombinant equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) superagonists are engineered biologic drugs designed to mimic and enhance the activity of natural eCG, a glycoprotein hormone produced by pregnant mares. These agents act as potent agonists at both the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) and luteinizing hormone/choriogonadotropin receptor (LHCGR), leading to increased follicular development and ovulation in target animals. Recombinant eCG is produced using advanced biotechnology platforms such as lentiviral vector-mediated expression in CHO-K1 cells or other mammalian cell systems, resulting in high-yield production with significant biological activity. Superagonist analogs are further engineered for greater potency and longer duration of action compared to native or serum-derived eCG. The primary indication is synchronization of estrus and improvement of reproductive performance in livestock species such as pigs and cattle. These products offer an ethical alternative to traditional extraction from pregnant mare serum[2][3][4].
