rE-4 is a recombinant glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) that shares the same amino acid sequence as exenatide, with the exception of a C-terminal deamidation. It is being investigated for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, aiming to improve glycemic control. Pharmacokinetic studies in Chinese patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus have shown that rE-4 is rapidly absorbed and eliminated, with exposure increasing in an approximately dose-proportional manner without accumulation. It has demonstrated effectiveness in reducing fasting plasma glucose, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), and body weight.
