Overview

Recombinant fowlpox-NY-ESO-1 is a viral vector cancer vaccine consisting of a live-attenuated fowlpox virus engineered to express the cancer-testis antigen NY-ESO-1 (CTAG1B). Developed primarily by the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in collaboration with Therion Biologics, the vaccine is designed to stimulate a robust cellular immune response, including CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, against tumors that express NY-ESO-1, such as melanoma, ovarian cancer, and synovial sarcoma. It is frequently utilized in a heterologous prime-boost regimen, often following a priming dose with a recombinant vaccinia virus (rV-NY-ESO-1), to enhance the magnitude and breadth of the anti-tumor immune response while minimizing vector-specific immunity.
