Overview

The recombinant fowlpox-tyrosinase vaccine (rF-TYR) is an investigational viral vector-based cancer vaccine developed by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). It utilizes a recombinant fowlpox virus to deliver the full-length human tyrosinase protein, a melanoma-associated antigen, to the immune system. The vaccine is typically used in a heterologous prime-boost regimen, often following a recombinant vaccinia-tyrosinase (rV-TYR) prime, to induce a robust T-cell response against melanoma cells expressing tyrosinase. Clinical evaluation has primarily focused on patients with advanced metastatic melanoma, often in combination with high-dose interleukin-2 (IL-2) to enhance immune activation.
