Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Recombinant H7 hemagglutinin influenza vaccine + Advax-2 is an investigational adjuvanted subunit vaccine designed to protect against H7N9 avian influenza. The vaccine consists of a recombinant H7 hemagglutinin (HA) protein, typically derived from the A/Anhui/1/2013 (H7N9) strain and produced in an insect cell/baculovirus expression system, combined with the Advax-2 adjuvant. Advax-2 is a proprietary adjuvant platform developed by Vaxine Pty Ltd, comprising delta-inulin (a plant-derived polysaccharide) and a synthetic Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) agonist (CpG oligonucleotide). This combination is intended to enhance the magnitude and breadth of the immune response, particularly in pandemic scenarios where H7N9 poses a significant zoonotic threat. Clinical studies have evaluated its safety and immunogenicity, demonstrating the ability of Advax-2 to significantly boost antibody titers and cellular immunity compared to unadjuvanted recombinant HA.
