Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination vaccine consisting of a **recombinant H7 hemagglutinin influenza antigen** and the **Advax-2 adjuvant**, which is based on crystalline delta inulin polysaccharide. The recombinant H7 hemagglutinin is engineered to elicit an immune response against H7 subtype influenza viruses (notably H7N9), while Advax-2 is designed to enhance immune responses by promoting both Th1 and Th2 immunity. The recombinant hemagglutinin functions as a target for neutralizing antibodies, and the Advax-2 adjuvant boosts the immune response by enhancing antigen presentation and co-stimulatory signals without significant inflammatory cytokine induction. Animal studies demonstrate robust antibody production and protection from lethal H7N9 challenge, including efficacy in neonates. This formulation is being developed as a pandemic and seasonal influenza vaccine platform, particularly addressing the poor immunogenicity of unadjuvanted recombinant protein vaccines[1][4].
