Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Recombinant human albumin-growth hormone fusion protein (HSA-rhGH) is a long-acting recombinant fusion protein developed by Unokin (Zhejiang Unokin Biological Engineering) for the treatment of growth disorders in children caused by endogenous growth hormone deficiency (GHD). The drug is constructed by genetically fusing human growth hormone (hGH) to human serum albumin (HSA). This fusion utilizes the long half-life of HSA to extend the half-life of the growth hormone by approximately 8-fold, allowing for once-weekly subcutaneous administration instead of daily injections. HSA-rhGH acts as an agonist of the growth hormone receptor (GHR), promoting linear growth and skeletal development. It is currently in Phase III clinical development in China.
