Recombinant human CCN6 (rhCCN6), also known as recombinant human WISP3, is a recombinant form of the human cellular communication network factor 6 (CCN6) protein. CCN6 is a secreted matricellular protein that acts as a tumor suppressor, particularly in aggressive breast cancers such as inflammatory breast cancer and metaplastic breast carcinoma. It functions by modulating multiple extracellular signaling pathways, including the inhibition of canonical Wnt/β-catenin signaling, attenuation of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) receptor signaling, and regulation of bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling (such as direct binding to BMP4 to potentiate Smad1/5 signaling while suppressing non-canonical TAK1/p38 activation). Recombinant human CCN6 is primarily utilized as a research-use-only reagent to study tumor suppression, epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and cellular differentiation in preclinical models.
