Recombinant human frizzled-7 fc chimera is a soluble fusion protein consisting of the extracellular domain of the human Frizzled-7 (FZD7) receptor fused to the Fc region of human IgG1. Frizzled-7 is a member of the G-protein coupled receptor superfamily and serves as a principal receptor for Wnt signaling proteins, which are critical regulators of cell fate, proliferation, and survival. By acting as a decoy receptor (or "Wnt trap"), this chimera binds to and sequesters secreted Wnt ligands, thereby preventing their interaction with endogenous cell-surface Frizzled receptors and inhibiting the activation of the canonical Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway. This mechanism is of significant interest in oncology, as aberrant Wnt signaling is a hallmark of various cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma, colorectal cancer, and breast cancer. While primarily utilized as a high-potency research tool to study Wnt-dependent biological processes, similar Fc-fusion constructs have been explored as therapeutic agents to modulate developmental pathways in disease states.
