Overview
Recombinant human hepato-regeneration factor (rhHRF) is a recombinant protein derived from the hepatic stimulator substance (HSS), a naturally occurring factor known for its potent and liver-specific mitogenic activity. It functions by stimulating DNA synthesis and accelerating the cell cycle in hepatocytes, thereby promoting the regeneration of liver tissue following acute or chronic injury. rhHRF also demonstrates protective effects by inhibiting hepatocyte apoptosis and reducing the impact of inflammatory cytokines. Developed primarily by Beijing Continent Pharmaceutical, it has been evaluated in clinical trials for conditions such as severe chronic hepatitis B, liver cirrhosis, and acute-on-chronic liver failure, where it aims to restore liver function and improve patient survival rates.
