Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Recombinant human interferon alpha-2 variants are engineered protein biologics being developed by Heligenics. These variants are designed to optimize the therapeutic profile of native interferon alpha-2 (IFN-α2) by targeting the interferon-alpha receptor (IFNAR). By binding to IFNAR, the drug induces a signaling cascade that promotes antiviral states, inhibits cell proliferation, and modulates immune responses. The program is currently in the lead validation/preclinical stage, with potential applications in treating acute myeloid leukemia, squamous cell carcinoma, polycythemia vera, and hepatitis D.
