Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Recombinant human interleukin-10 is an anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory cytokine that regulates mucosal inflammation. It is a 161 amino acid protein that inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interferon gamma, tumor necrosis factor alpha, and interleukin 2. It also suppresses delayed type hypersensitivity responses and stimulates Th2 cell responses. In clinical trials, it has been studied for treating inflammatory bowel disease, particularly Crohn's disease, and more recently as an immunotherapy for cancer.
