Recombinant human interleukin‑7 (IL‑7) is a synthetic protein identical or similar to the endogenous cytokine IL‑7, a hematopoietic growth factor and immunomodulator. It acts as a potent lymphoid cell growth factor, primarily affecting pre-B, pro-B, early T cells, and mature T cells in combination with other factors. Recombinant IL‑7 binds to the IL‑7 receptor (a heterodimer of IL‑7Rα and common γ chain), stimulating proliferation and survival of lymphocytes—especially CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells—thus restoring or maintaining immune function. It is under investigation for use in cancer immunotherapy (e.g., metastatic breast cancer), sepsis, and as an adjunct in CAR-T cell therapies due to its ability to expand functional T-cell populations with less toxicity than some other cytokines[1][2][6][8].
