Overview

**Recombinant human papillomavirus vaccine bivalent (types 16 + 18)** is a prophylactic vaccine targeting human papillomavirus types 16 and 18, the two main oncogenic HPV serotypes responsible for approximately 70% of cervical cancer cases worldwide[4][2]. This vaccine uses recombinant technology to generate virus-like particles (VLPs) of the L1 protein from types 16 and 18, which induce a specific immune response, leading to production of neutralizing antibodies that prevent persistent infection and associated cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cancer. Clinical studies have shown that this bivalent vaccine provides robust, durable protection—up to 11 years—against high-grade cervical lesions (CIN2+ and CIN3) caused by HPV-16/18 in HPV-naive populations[2][4].
