Overview

Recombinant human prourokinase (rhPro-UK) is a thrombolytic agent with an amino acid sequence identical to natural prourokinase. It functions as a plasminogen activator, converting plasminogen to plasmin which breaks down fibrin clots. It has been approved in China for treating acute myocardial infarction since 2011 and has also been studied in clinical trials for acute ischemic stroke and is in preregistration for pulmonary embolism.
