Recombinant Lactococcus lactis NZ9000 pNZ8123-HPV16-optiE7 is a genetically engineered, live bacterial therapeutic vaccine designed for the prevention and treatment of human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV-16) related diseases, such as cervical cancer and premalignant lesions. The vaccine utilizes the *Lactococcus lactis* strain NZ9000 as a delivery vector to express a codon-optimized version of the full-length HPV-16 E7 oncoprotein. Administered orally, the vaccine aims to induce a mucosal and systemic immune response against E7-expressing cells. Clinical evaluation in Iran has demonstrated that the vaccine is well-tolerated in healthy volunteers, with the potential to serve as a cost-effective and non-invasive immunotherapy for HPV-associated malignancies.
