Overview

Recombinant LDHA is a laboratory-produced version of the human lactate dehydrogenase A enzyme. In oncology research, it has been investigated as a potential extracellular signaling molecule and survival factor for cancer cells. Studies suggest that extracellular LDHA may protect tumor cells, such as Burkitt's lymphoma and pancreatic cancer cells, from oxidative stress-induced cell death by interacting with membrane receptors. This non-enzymatic role provides a potential mechanism for the poor clinical outcomes associated with high serum LDHA levels in cancer patients.
