Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The recombinant measles virus hemagglutinin protein vaccine (rMeVH) is a novel recombinant protein subunit vaccine candidate developed by Mevox in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University and the Vaccine Research Center (NIAID/NIH). It consists of a recombinant dimeric measles virus hemagglutinin (H) protein. Designed as a safer alternative to the live-attenuated measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, rMeVH is intended for populations who cannot receive live vaccines, such as pregnant women and immunocompromised individuals. In preclinical studies in rhesus macaques, intramuscular administration of rMeVH elicited robust neutralizing antibody titers and protected the animals from measles disease and systemic viral spread upon wild-type measles virus challenge.
