Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination vaccine formulated for *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup B, consisting of recombinant surface protein antigens and purified outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) from targeted strains. OMVs are non-replicating nanostructures derived from Gram-negative bacterial membranes, primarily containing PorA (and sometimes additional outer membrane proteins like FetA or fHbp), which are potent immunogens. Recombinant proteins (such as fHbp, NadA, NHBA) are produced using recombinant DNA technology and added to broaden strain coverage. The vaccine acts by stimulating both humoral and cellular immunity, inducing strong bactericidal antibody responses against serogroup B meningococci through complement-mediated killing. OMVs contribute intrinsic adjuvant properties via pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) that activate host Toll-like receptors, enhancing immune activation[1][5][7].
