Overview

RMCST6 is a recombinant form of cystatin M/E (CST6), which functions as a cysteine protease inhibitor. It is being investigated for its ability to ameliorate bone resorption, particularly in conditions like multiple myeloma (MM) and osteoporosis. The drug's mechanism involves increasing the expression of estrogen receptor alpha (ERα) and elevating intracellular estrogen concentrations within osteoclast precursor cells, thereby inhibiting their maturation and subsequent bone-resorbing activity.
