Overview

Recombinant murine granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (rmGM-CSF) is a biologic research compound consisting of the murine form of the cytokine GM-CSF. Produced via recombinant DNA technology in systems such as *Escherichia coli* or *Saccharomyces cerevisiae*, it serves as a critical regulator of hematopoiesis. It primarily functions by stimulating the proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells into granulocytes (neutrophils, eosinophils) and macrophages. Beyond its role in myelopoiesis, rmGM-CSF enhances the effector functions of mature myeloid cells, including phagocytosis and antimicrobial activity. It is extensively utilized in preclinical research to study recovery from myelosuppression, immune responses to bacterial and fungal pathogens, and as an adjuvant in cancer immunotherapy models.
