Overview

Recombinant murine interleukin-1 alpha (rMuIL-1 alpha) is a laboratory-produced version of the mouse IL-1α cytokine. It acts as a potent mediator of the inflammatory response by binding to and activating the interleukin-1 receptor (IL-1R). Preclinical studies in murine models have demonstrated its potential to inhibit tumor growth, particularly in B16 melanoma models when used alone or synergistically with interferon-alpha. Additionally, it enhances host defense against bacterial infections, such as *Listeria monocytogenes*, by promoting the recruitment of neutrophils and macrophages to the site of infection. While a critical tool in immunology research, this specific murine protein is not used in human clinical medicine.
